These immune complexes circulation with the blood circulation, and then get lodged in kidney tissues. In order to eliminate these foreign substances, excessive immune reaction is induced which may causing damage to the kidneys.

Tests & Diagnosis

▪ Conventionally, a blood test, urine test, and a kidney biopsy will be used to diagnose Purpura Nephritis.

▪ Immune special tests

- Antigen tests. To find out the antigen of purpura; to direct your doctor to choose treatment and drugs.

- Immunoglobulin tests. To monitor humoral immune function. Especially, elevated IgA level usually is an indicator of purpura.

- Hematuria location tests. To find out where the blood cells from, glomeruli or urinary tract; the severity of blood urine; to offer direction for the drug use.

- Complement tests. To help diagnose the activity of purpura.

- Lymphocyte subpopulation tests. To help monitor the effectiveness of kidney disease treatment you are taking; to monitor your immune system and help you decide whether, when, how to start immune treatment and other therapies to prevent infections.

- Toxins in blood test. Checking items include: BUN, Creatinine, UA, β 2-microglobulin, Cyc C, RBP, HCY, and PTH.

Prognosis

If the child developed any kidney problems from HSP, there is a very good chance he or she will fully recover; about 1% of these children have Kidney Failure.
